About ASTER

Built for the People Who Make Materials

ASTER builds ASTER-C, a benchtop filament extruder that lets labs, print farms and material developers turn their own polymers and blends into 3D printing filament, in-house.

Why we built it

The Formulation Was Never the Hard Part

You already know what you want to run: a high-temperature grade with a specific filler, a recycled batch from your own workshop, an unusual diameter. Getting it as filament is where the work stalls.

  1. 01

    Lead times

Research cycles measured in supplier lead times instead of bench hours.

  2. 02

    Minimum orders

Money spent on minimum order quantities for material you will barely use.

  3. 03

    Untested ideas

Formulations you never test, because testing them is not worth the wait.

  4. 04

    Wasted scrap

Reclaimable scrap thrown away for want of a way to process it.

What we believe

How We Think About Filament

Your Material, Your Call

Any extrusion-grade thermoplastic, blend or recycled stock. You decide what goes in the hopper.

Small Batches Count

Run just enough to test an idea, without supplier minimum orders or long lead times.

Scrap Is Feedstock

Suitable failed prints and process scrap go back through the machine as usable filament.

Honest Numbers

Every figure on this site comes from the ASTER-C specification sheet and operating manual.
